Over The Edge (1979) |
Summer is almost over, and I'm ready for fall. I'm not ready for winter though, and I will miss summer, but fall is my favorite time of year, for many reasons. We're having unusually comfortable weather in the Northeast for this time of year, with temps in the 70s and nice cool overnight lows this week. All of which makes it feel even more like fall is already here. How about a nice pumpkin ale? Yes, please.
Still, I have no doubt we'll see a return to hot and humid weather before summer's officially done. But those days will become fewer and farther between as we move into September. So, get outside, enjoy the last days of summer while you can.
Speaking of summer, I contributed some articles, reviews, and interviews at other sites this summer. Here are some links, for your perusal and enjoyment. Feel free to comment here with your thoughts on any and all of these pieces.

Over The Edge (cult classic film review)
As a fan of Bobby D (and Al Pacino) I really enjoyed your De Niro article, funnily enough I watched The Godfather II again just last week and Heat popped up on tv here in England last night.
ReplyDeleteI went to see Heat in the cinema twice back in 1995, and the diner scene is still one of the most exciting moments of my life as a movie fan. It’s also one of those scenes where if I’m flicking channels, and I know it’s coming up soon, I’ll always wait around for 15 or 20 minutes just to watch it again.
Great job again, it can't have been easy to narrow it down to just 10!
Thanks again, Paul! It was incredibly difficult choosing a top ten De Niro list, you're right about that. I decided to do it quickly and not overthink it. Of course now I already regret a few choices. It just shows how terrific a body of work the man compiled over the years.
DeleteHeat is one of my favorite films. It's so beautifully made, so epic in scope, and yet so human underneath it all. The characters are what draw you in and keep you interested. That diner scene was the greatest thing I'd ever seen when I watched this one in the theater, and all these years later it's still right up there with my all-time favorite movie moments.
