Every Wednesday, social media reminds us to celebrate #WednesdayWisdom, #WednesdayMotivation, and #WomanCrushWednesday (or #WCW). When I think of all three, I think of one person first and foremost. I'll give you a second to think on it. Here's a hint:
Oh, okay, I'll just tell you. Michelle Pfeiffer! Surprise!
Life of late has been hectic, busy, stressful, overwhelming, exhausting, relentless, and even at times crushingly depressing. Thus, I've had less time or mental capacity for writing this month. In order to keep this place going, though (Because you demand it! I hope?), here's a little fresh content. It's light on text but heavy on visuals, and when then the visuals are Michelle Pfeiffer photos*, you really can't complain about that ratio.
These are publicity shots of a young Ms. Pfeiffer from 1979. We're talking very early in her career, when she was guest starring on Fantasy Island (I will write about those appearances one day, so stay tuned) and playing a character named Bombshell in the short-lived Animal House spin-off series Delta House. Soon she'd costar in the also short-lived and pretty terrible B.A.D Cats. Then she costarred alongside another favorite, Fran Drescher, in a film I have a soft spot for, The Hollywood Knights, and soon after that and some other work, she landed her first starring role in Grease 2—the better of the two Grease films. You read that right. Fight me.
In 1979, lots of people were standing in front of garish purple-pink backgrounds, but few ever did it as well as Michelle Pfeiffer did. I wouldn't doubt she rolls her eyes at these photos today, but for what it's worth, these are prime Baby Pfeiffer images because they really capture that early career charm she managed to display even though she was mostly treated as just a pretty face in various roles and photo shoots. We all know she quickly ascended to the title of best actress on the planet, but it's still fun to see her in those formative years.
Kick back, relax, and bask in the sun-kissed California golden glory that is Michelle "Baby" Pfeiffer, circa 1979. You're welcome.
*From what I can find online, all photos seem to have been taken by Jim Britt.
I won't fight you over "the better of the Grease films" I much prefer to bathe in the beauty of baby Pfeiffer.
ReplyDeleteBasking in the beauty of Baby Pfeiffer was the remedy I needed today, my friend. Glad it works for you as well - I knew it would, of course.
